Guatemala sees boost in food and beverage sector

Guatemala's food and beverage industry is expected to grow 10 percent this year, compared to 2012, according to sector representatives.

The growth would come as a result of promotion in regional fairs of the country's fast food, restaurant and hotel catering services.

The food and beverage sector already accounts for 2.2 percent of Guatemala's gross domestic product, said Salvador Contreras, representative of the country's restaurant trade union.
