Guatemala smashes its remittances record

Guatemalan expatriates sent remittances of $9.3 billion last year -- a record -- to their families back home.
 
The new record represented an increase of 13.3 percent on the previous year, when remittances reached $8.2 billion.

In December, Guatemalan remittances reached $843 million.
