Guatemala to be Central America bridgehead for Empresas Públicas de Medellín

Monday, November 1, 2010

Central America remains in diapers in energy terms, with only 17 percent of its potential in hydro and 15 percent of its wind power.

As a result, the $635 million acquisition by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) of Guatemala’s Deca II will have an impact well beyond Guatemala itself.

By its acquisition of the largest energy company in the region, EPM hopes to launch new surprises with the aim of achieving revenues of $1.2 billion.
