Guatemala to boost railway system

The Government of Guatemala announced its plans to tender railway projects next year worth some $640 million.

The plans include a passenger train in the capital and two cargo trains connecting Tecún Umán to Puerto Quetzal and Guatemala city to Puerto Barrios.

The government is also analyzing the possibility of connecting the cargo train lines with the Mexican railway system.
