Guatemalan exports close year with record 25 percent increase in overseas sales

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Following a drop in exports during the crisis years of 2008 and 2009 for the world economy, Guatemala's exporters are celebrating a record 2011.

Exports grew by 25 percent this year, the biggest increase in three decades.

Income came to $10 billion, thanks to high international prices for coffee, gold, silver, crude oil and rubber.
