Guatemalan exports reached $10 billion last year thanks to high prices in world markets

High world market prices for commodities boosted Guatemala's exports to a record $10.4 billion.

Raúñ Trejo, deputy trade minister, said that high prices boosted results for sugar, coffee and cardomom. But he also cited the opening of new markets and demand from within Central America.

Last year, Guatemala exported $2.7 billion to the rest of the region.
