Guatemalan farmers fear for export earnings

Wednesday, December 26, 2018

Guatemala is closing the year with exports of non-traditional farm products amounting to $1.1 billion, but the figure is likely to drop in 2019, according to producers and exporters.

The problems include increases in logistical expenses, low commodity prices and a lack of technical assistance in rural ares, according to the exporters' association, Agexport.

Guatemala has done its best to position itself in international markets but stagnation awaits as the nation faces major challenges.
