Guatemalan monopolies cling to power

Guatemala’s proposed legislation to ensure free and fair competition will not restrict the powers of the nation’s existing monopolies, the Central American Institute for Fiscal Studies, has warned.

Guatemala is the only Latin American country without legislation to ensure free competition, despite its obligation under the association with Europe to enact such measures.
