Guatemalan remittances up by 15.1% in January but less than pre-crisis

Friday, February 4, 2011

Guatemalan emigrants sent home 15.1 percent more in remittances in January than they did in the same month last year.

The central bank announced that January’s remittances came to $283.3 million.

However, that amount falls short of the $290.2 million of January 2009, let alone the $314.6 million of January 2008.
