Guatemalans are negative about economy
A poll by the Association for Social Research in Guatemala showed that 60 percent of businesses believe the country's economy in the first half of the year is worse compared with the same period last year.
The poll, where 491 Guatemalan companies took part in August, also showed that 26 percent believe the economy is the same as for the first half of 2013, while 14 percent said it had improved.
For the same period, 23 percent of the companies increased their number of employees, 20 percent made cuts and 57 percent maintained the same number of workers.
