Hanes Brands subsidiary to leave Costa Rica

Garment firm Catex Manufactura, subsidiary of Hanes Brands, will close down its operations in Costa Rica, affecting 1,250 employees.

The company said the decision is purely business-related, as its Vietnamese factories are closer to its raw material suppliers, and exporting the finished products from the Asian country to the U.S. is cheaper.

Hanes Brands employs 56,900 people across 35 countries, including Honduras and El Salvador.
