High inflation in Honduras

As of May, Honduras had the highest inflation rate in Central America, mainly due to increases in the price of clothing, footwear, alcoholic beverages, and education services, according to the Central American Monetary Council (Spanish only).
Honduras’ cumulative annual inflation reached 6.2% in May, the highest in the region and seventh in Latin America.
Nicaragua was second in Central America, with inflation at 4.8%, while El Salvador was lowest at 0.9%.
At 61%, Venezuela had Latin America’s highest rate (figures in parentheses refer to the annual rate of inflation, expressed as a percentage, based on changes in the price of a basic group of products and services in each country).
