High sugar prices and US recovery combine to boost Guatemala exports

Boosted by high sugar prices and the US recovery, Guatemala’s exports grew by 16.8 percent in the first four months of the year.

Exporters sold products valued at $2.88 billion, compared with $2.47 billion in the same period of last year.

Sugar exports earned $345 million, up from $152 million. Coffee exports rose to $306 million, 24 percent year on year.
