Honduran assembly plants crush records in export sales

Exports from in-bond assembly plants -- the maquiladoras -- grew by 10 percent last year in Honduras, Guillermo Matamoros, regional manager of the maquiladora association reported.
"There's been nothing like this in the last three decades," he said. Total exports of the sector -- mainly textiles but also in vehicle harnesses -- came to some $4.6 billion last year, La Tribuna reports in Spanish.
