Honduran banks to rescue of state power utility

Thursday, December 27, 2018

The Honduran banking authorities approved a $270 million credit for the state power company, the ENEE.

The ENEE is expected to face a serious operational deficit this year. From January through November the deficit was some $300 million, more than twice as much as in the same period of last year.

The banks who are taking part in the credit will be able to calculate it on a limit on 30 percent on their capital and reserves, given that the loan will have sovereign status.
