Honduras assembly plants create 10,000 jobs

The maquila — assembly for export — plants of Honduras saw exports grow by 4 percent last year as investments grew by $14 million. Perhaps more significant, however, was that the plants created 10,000 jobs.

The maquila industry in Honduras now has 140,000 workers.
