Honduras coffee exports surge in September by 22 percent compared with same month of last year, Ihcafé reports

Coffee exports from Honduras, the world’s sixth-largest shipper, rose to 39,868 bags in September from 22,911 bags a year earlier, the Honduran Coffee Institute said in an e-mailed report.

Shipments climbed 22 percent in the year that ended Sept. 30, to 3.87 million bags from 3.16 million bags the previous year, according to the institute, known as Ihcafé.

Each bag weighs 60 kilograms, or 132 pounds.
