Honduras fails in bid auction for major hydro plant

Friday, August 24, 2012

The state power company of Honduras, the ENEE, has admitted that it has failed to invite tenders for major repairs to the El Cajón hydro plant.

"We're going to have a re-think. The amount of the likely bids would make the project too expensive for the ENEE," said the company's interim president, Roberto Cardona.

A bid of $39.5 million was placed by Rodio Swissboring, a unit of France-based Soletanche Freyssinet, and Mexico's ICA.
