Honduras in $500 million plea to rescue Hondutel

The government of Honduras is looking for a $500 million rescue for its state-run telephone company, Hondutel.

Hondutel needs funding in order to modernize its systems, said the company manager, Romero Vázquez Velázquez.

The company is looking to compete in the broadband Internet market, against Cable Color and mobile companies Tigo and Claro.
