Honduras in talks with Brazil over resumption of $600 million in project financing

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Honduran ministers and business leaders held talks with the Brazilian government in order to resume financing of public works for more than $600 million.

The talks aim to guarantee financing for two hydroelectric plants built by Obredecht, estimated at $271 million.

Brazil had stopped finance for Honduras after the 2009 constitutional crisis which saw ex-president Manuel Zelaya ousted by the Honduran military.
