Honduras is the most expensive country to send remittances in Central and South America.

The data comes from an analysis by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Honduras was Central America's third biggest receiver of remittances in 2012, after Guatemala and El Salvador, with $2.9 billion, according to the Honduran Central Bank.
