Honduras puts strict limit on fiscal deficit

The Honduran Congress passed a law that restricts the fiscal deficit to 2.5 percent of GDP in an effort to reduce the nation’s debt load.

In recent years, the deficit has reached as much as 8 percent of GDP, while the nation’s debt has risen to $9.1 billion.
