Honduras receives 11.6 percent more remittances

Honduras received $1.8 billion of remittances during the first half of the year.

The figure shows an 11.6 percent growth compared to the same period last year, according to the director of the country's central bank, María Elena Mondragón.

She added that remittances have grown despite unemployment figures in the U.S., the main provider of remittances, are still high. In addition, some 20,000 Hondurans have been deported so far this year.
