Honduras receives $2.8 billion in remittances through July

This year through July, Honduras received $2.8 billion in remittances, 9.3 percent more than in the same period of last year.
Last year, remittances amounted to $4.3 billion, the equivalent of 18 percent of GDP. They are the nation's biggest foreign exchange earner, far exceeding coffee, assembly plants and shrimp, among others.
The financial authorities have set a target of $4.6 billion for this year's total remittances.
