Honduras struggles despite accords with US

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Seven years after signing the free trade agreement with the United States, Honduras still shows no economic improvement: its trade deficit has widened, and capital flow from the U.S. has decreased.

In that period capital flows from the U.S. to Honduras decreased from 50 to 19.6 percent, according to the Honduran Central Bank.

The U.S. dominates certain sectors in the Honduran economy, like fuel, food, communications, financial and insurance products.
