Honduras to improve control, security and customs administration at Puerto Cortés

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Honduras is to receive a $10 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank to improve control, security and customs services at Puerto Cortés.

Puerto Cortés handles 81 per cent of cargo and 76 per cent of vessels entering and leaving Honduras and is the main port in Central America.

The project is the first of its kind in Latin America and the Caribbean and aims to improve security and fiscal and parafiscal controls, while facilitating and speeding up the clearance of legitimate trade.
