Honduras wants others to join customs union

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Juan Orlando Hernández, the Honduran president, wants Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama to join the customs union of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

If we can convince the others to take part, "Then we will become the seventh largest economy in the Americas," Hernández said.

The Honduran leaders recalled that the union began with Honduras and Guatemala in June of 2017 "and it wasn't easy at all" to begin with. Now, however, he foresees more prosperity for the three existing nations in terms of investments and jobs.
