Honduras will assemble electric vehicles

Monday, June 25, 2018

Green4U will as of 2019 assemble electric vehicles in Honduras’ eastern Cortes Department, which includes the country’s biggest port.

The United States-based company will assemble small sedans, pick-ups and vans, as part of an emphasis on fleets – including taxis and commercial vehicles - which may be underserved by conventional producers of electric transport platforms.

Green4U, which will invest $20 million over the next five years in the facility, is a developer of lightweight motors, powertrains and chassis, as well as battery and charge monitoring technologies.

The company started operations in 1997 as DeltaWing Technology Group, with a focus on motorsports and technology, including the 1998 Panoz Esperante Q9 GTR-1, one of the first racing cars to use an electric-gasoline hybrid motor.

The founder of DeltaWing, Don Panoz, is chairman of Green4U.
