Honduras will return for talks on the International Monetary Fund next month

Friday, August 13, 2010

The government of Honduras confirmed that talks with the International Monetary Fund will be renewed.

The most recent Fund delegation visited the country from 2 to 10 August, with the aim of closing an 18-month arrangement. The talks were not concluded, however, because Porfirio Lobo’s administration has yet to prepare its draft 2011 budget.

The Honduran authorities have not admitted that the fund rejected the economic proposal from the government.
