Insurance premiums in Panama hit $541 million

Insurance premiums in Panama reached $541 million in the first half of the year.

That meant a 5 percent increase on the same period of 2011.

The most popular policies are for auto, health and life insurance, according to a report from the nation's insurance regulator.
