Wednesday, September 19, 2018

The international community has begun to pay more attention to the five-month-old crisis in Nicaragua in which dozens of people have died in protests against the regime of President Daniel Ortega, the collapse of the economy, and violent land seizures.

The crisis could be a theme for debate at bilateral involving representatives of governments of the region during the United Nations General Assembly, a spokesman for the secretary-general, Farhan Haq told the newspaper El Nuevo Diario.

Meanwhile, the Central American Integration System is working to establish a dialogue within the country to provide a peaceful solution to the crisis, Vinicio Cerezo, head of the System told the news agency Efe.
