International tribunal backs El Salvador in mining dispute

The problems facing the hard-pressed were alleviated, if only a little by a World Bank arbitration tribunal backed the nation against a long-standing $250 million claim by Canada’s Oceana Gold, formerly Pacific Rim.

After seven and a half years of litigation, El Salvador was granted $8 million in legal costs. But the costs in fact reached to $13 million.
