Investment fever grips Panama amid $16 billion five-year plan for public works

The widening of the Panama Canal is simply an oustanding example of the investment fever in Central America that contrasts sharply with the stagnation of Europe.

Apart from the Canal, public works projects are underway or on the drawing board throughout the region.

In Panama alone, there are $5.5 billion in projects being built in the next three years, and $16 billion between 2010 and 2015.
