Lala responds to Nicaragua crisis with new plants in region

Grupo Lala, Mexico's regional leader in dairy products, is about to open a new plant in Guatemala. Another plant will follow by the end of the year in Costa Rica.
The plans are expected to mitigate the impact of the crisis in Nicaragua, where Lala has a plant but its exports to Guatemala and Costa Rica have been reduced to a trickle b y the violence and protests.
The Guatemalan plant represents a $30 million investment. It is located in the Michatoya industrial park, where it will have a capacity of 5,000 tons a month of like and ice-cream.
