Latin America dwells on the past, leading columnist Andrés Oppenheimer says in Costa Rica. Better education is needed

Friday, November 11, 2011

Progress is linked to investment in education, science and technology by successful countries, but no so in Latin America, said Andrés Oppenheimer, Pulizer-winning columnist of the Miami Herald.

Oppenheimer was a keynote speaker at a health and education forum in San José organized by international consulting firm Deloitte and Costa Rican Medical Holding.

He noted that countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Costa Rica are falling behind. “We are obsessed with the past, while other countries are looking towards the future,” Oppenheimer said.
