Monday, May 9, 2016

The leader of Liberty Reserve, a Costa Rica-based digital currency company, was sentenced by a US federal judge to 20 years in prison for running a global money-laundering scheme that prosecutors said was unprecedented in size and scope.

The punishment for Arthur Budovsky, 42 years old, comes four months after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to launder money related to his role in Liberty Reserve.
