Longshoremen reject modernization of Costa Rican ports as talks break down

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Talks have broken down between Costa Rica’s government and the longshoremen’s trade union at the nation’s Caribbean ports.

The breakdown has led to fears to the development of a protest movement in the ports and in the main city of the region, Limón.

The talks had gone on for three months on plans to equip Moín, Costa Rica’s main port.
