Medellin to create new conglomerate

The mayor of Medellín, Colombia, Aníbal Gaviria Correa, said the city will create a new conglomerate of 46 companies.

The project includes Empresas Públicas de Medellín, the city's electricity, water, gas and telecoms utility firms.

The conglomerate will become Colombia's fifth largest economic group by assets, and the second in the public sector, behind oil firm Ecopetrol.
