Mexican retail sales surge 4.8 percent in August
Mexico's retail sales rose more than expected in August from the year-earlier month and picked up pace after disappointing results the previous month.
The National Statistics Institute, or Inegi, said Monday that retail sales rose 4.8 percent from August 2011, with higher sales of clothing, stationery, cars and auto parts, home appliances, and computers, among others.
Retail sales rose 1.1 percent from July in seasonally adjusted terms, reversing the previous month's sharp decline.
