Mexico and Honduras were the only Latin American nations where poverty grew last year, study reveals

Mexico and Honduras were the only countries in Latin America where increased last year, according to the UN Economic Commission for Latin America.

The increase in Mexico was due to the sharp drop in economic growth in 2009.

Official figures on Honduras point to an increase in the poverty level of 66.2 to 67.6 percent for the 12 months ending in May of this year. The extreme poverty level grew from 45.3 to 46.9 percent.
