Mexico heads for $33 billion in remittances

Thursday, September 6, 2018

Remittances this year should reach $33 billion, an increase of 9 percent on last year, a BBVA Bancomer study said, and next year they could reach $35 billion.

Carlos Serrano, the bank's chief economist explained that immigration to the US has been growing again and so is the availability of jobs there.
Serrano added that only China, India and the Philippines receive more remittances than Mexico, which now accounts for 5.1 percent of the world total.
