Mexico lags in commercial bank credit

Mexico's commercial bank credit has grown in the past years and accounted for 19.5 percent of the country's gross domestic product last year.

But that figure is still below the average for Latin America, where Mexico is above only Ecuador and Haiti.

The data is from the International Monetary Fund's fifth financial access survey, which is led this year by the Peru, Chile and Brazil.
