Mexico rejects coffee and bananas in swap for automobiles in talks with Guatemala

In talks on a broader free trade agreement between the two countries, Guatemala offered to accept imports of Mexican automobiles.

But Mexico rejected the offer of an exchange with bananas and coffee from Guatemala. Both products are “sensitive” to Mexican producers.

The talks, now in their fourth round, have reached a stalemate.
