Mexico sets second minimum wage hike

Wednesday, December 18, 2019

The Mexican government on Monday agreed to raise the daily minimum wage by 20 percent, the second consecutive major increase, but experts said a large hike could make it challenging for the central bank to keep core inflation under control.

The minimum wage will rise to $6.50 a day next year, Labor Minister Luisa Alcalde announced at an event in Mexico City, Reuters reports.
