Thursday, November 20, 2014

Panama's mining sector contributed with 2 percent of the country's gross domestic product from January to September this year, according to Zoriel Morales, director of the country's mining chamber.

But that figure could grow to 7 percent from 2018, as the Minera Panamá projects begins its exports of gold, silver and copper, Morales added.

The project currently employs 2,500 people, but will create more than 8,000 jobs when it begins to export.
