Mining firms eye Nicaragua opportunities

Nicaragua's investment promotion agency, ProNicaragua, said there is a group of mining firms keen on operating in the country.

A Nicaraguan trade mission took part in a summit organized by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, "where several companies showed interest in exploring mining opportunities in Nicaragua," ProNicaragua said.

Last year, gold was Nciaragua's top export product, with sales reaching $435 million, 3 percent more than in 2012.
