More US insurers make savings by covering medical procedures abroad

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Company health insurance plans are featuring a medical travel option more often than ever before, so many individuals are traveling internationally for their operation, according to CNN Money.com.

It actually saves money for the insurance company as well.

For instance, when Tina Follett needed a hysterectomy, she and her husband, Patrick, embarked on a two-week, all-expenses-paid trip to Panama for the procedure. She checked into the Punta Pacifica Hospital in Panama City for a complete hysterectomy, and they were quite satisfied with the care.
