New Central American free trade agreement expected to boost commerce between Chile and Nicaragua

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Trade between Nicaragua and Chile is expected to grow by 50 percent a year with the introduction of a free trade accord involving the two countries.

Chile’s trade agreement with Central America was signed February 22, and Nicaragua will be the last country to ratify it.

The trade balance favors Chile. So far it has sold exports valued at $9.4 million this year against $5.3 million in exports from Nicaragua.
