New doubts over Costa Rican rail project

 

The head of Costa Rica’s state railway system resigned but he gave an assurance that his decision would not affect plans for a new electric railroad to ease road traffic congestion.

However, doubts remain about the project. In particular, the projected cost of $1.5 billion could be too much to bear for the nation’s strained economy.
