New law on mining proposed to Honduran legislators in bid to reduce red tape

Thursday, February 9, 2012

The Committees of the National Congress of Honduras have submitted a draft of a new Mining Law to the Congress for approval.

In a bid to streamline procedures and attract more investment to its mining sector, the law aims to accelerate licensing processes and simplify rules for mining companies planning to operate in Honduras.

Mining generated $288 million in exports in 2010, said Aldo Santos, director of the Directorate for the Promotion of Mining.
